Unlimited Drink Wristband to return 2010?

Will Unlimited Drink Wristbands Return to Kings Island In 2010?!?

Drink Wristbands

Give your group members a wristband that will allow them to receive unlimited soft drinks all day long. Wristbands are valid at soda fountain retailers throughout the park.

(Official Post on Kings Island Webpage)

As of now Drink Wristbands Are only availible for Groups Coming with 10 or more in 2010!

As far as we can tell the Unlimited Drink wristband will not be availible for the normal non Group guest this year EXCEPT as we said you are a group purchasing tickets for 10 or more and are all purchasing the Wristbands but.............

However there are rumors of its possible RETURN in late 2010 or the new season 2011 with new rules and prices. The reason the park discontinued this was the loss of money because people were going from drink station to drink station getting free drinks for everyone. Therefore the idea simply Flopped. But new rumors have popped up of a possible fix for this. Adding the Unlimited Drinks to your ticket price! Which means Gold passes price may go up in 2011. Also General admission could see a spike in price as early as the 2011 season. This is not fact but it is rumors and ideas spiking up at the lastest Cedar Fair Meeting.

I would not expect any significant price changes for 2010 as all the Gold and season tickets are already sold at no price spike. Be aware however as you May see some significant changes in 2011. But remember this is only posted to let you know of the Rumors floating around and should not be taken as solid FACT untill the official post has been made.

Keep checking back on this blog and Follow us if you would like to see future post!!

How do I know? Because I am one of the first riders and with early ride times I walked on the Diamond Back rollercoaster in abount 15 minutes on opening day. Great PERK!!!

Son Of Beast Future

Whats Next for the Son of Beast?
May 30th, 2010
Reports are telling us so far that there is no hope for the return of The Son Of Beast, At least for this 2010 Season that is. This ride opened many years ago in 2000 and has had quite a Bumpy history and no were not saying a good one the rollercoaster is a record breaking 214 foot tall wooden coaster and travels at speeds excessive to 78Mph and had the Worlds First flip implemented into the massive wooden monster. During its first week of opporation it was closed however due to an inspection that was reported to have found a 15 foot piece of rough Track. Many have reported this coaster to be a rough and unpleasant experience including myself after riding the coaster finding it hard to walk after leaning forward and my back cracking forward over a large hill. The most recent incedent on June 16th 2009 involve a woman claiming to have sustained brain damage on the ride which later called for the park to close the ride as of now indefinately for the forseeable future untill a resolution on how to fix or replace the ride is reached. No official decisions have been made but rumors about possible steal parts of the ride being added have been floating around but should not be taken as fact just yet. In my own oppinion I believe that kings island has considered possibilities for the attraction but just has not reached a verdict yet so it is still early to tell exactly what will be the fate of this attraction Loved by some and hated by many.
You can check out more about The Son of Beast rollercoaster by continueing to look back at this Nokia Application completely obligated to bringing you the latest news in kings island attractions and happenings.
Below is peices of a blog that performed an interview of the ride officials and engineers:
Now, after dozens of riders over nine seasons have said they were hurt on the ride, Son of Beast's survival is uncertain following a recent trial in which a jury awarded a 40-year-old Defiance woman $76,364 in compensatory damages for her injuries sustained on the roller coaster three years ago.

Kings Island attorneys, whose case included surreptitiously filmed footage of the woman, Jennifer Wright, as evidence against her alleged disability during the trial, struck an additional settlement with her minutes after the jury's verdict to avoid possibly paying punitive damages.

Wright said she would not have accepted the settlement unless the video testimony of forensic engineer Richard Schimizze were made public.

In his testimony, the engineer said that Kings Island officials knew about extensive problems with the ride since 2000 and attempted to fix the issues on a case-by-case basis that increased stresses on certain components of the ride, leading to wooden supports snapping and causing accidents that injured Wright, and a reported 27 others, on July 9, 2006.

"I would feel like garbage if I held on to this information and then a year from now somebody was really hurt bad," said Wright, struggling to control her voice through tears. "I'm not saying that's going to happen, I'm just saying, 'What if?'"

Wright, a single mother of four, was forced to quit her long-time job at Campbell Soup Co. because of a hip injury she suffered after the car she was riding in hit a span of track that had separated.

"When we hit, immediately it was like hitting a brick wall," Wright recalled. "You just know, wait a minute, that's not part of the ride."

She remembered the sound of the seat restraint clicking down four times, pinning her in an awkward position before her body was wrenched through Son of Beast's 118-foot loop. "I was thinking, oh my god, we're going to die. We're going to die."

The loop was removed following the accident, when Cedar Fair, new park owners, spent millions of dollars to repair the ride.

Schimizze said the ride has been plagued by "excessive lateral motion," meaning the track sways side-to-side as the train passes along certain stretches of the track. That contributed to loose timber connections, rapid bolt hole wear, track misalignment and unanticipated vibratory effects on Son of Beast. Stiffening the wooden frame and fixing problems locally, Schimizze added, simply moved and concentrated the load on other parts of the ride.

Efforts to repair Son of Beast were made in "Band-Aid" style, Schimizze said. "In other words, fix one area, see what happens, then fix another area and see what happens."

The engineer recommended that Kings Island build an extensive computer model to determine a comprehensive fix for the roller coaster rather than relying on the local simulations run thus far.

Kings Island spokesman Don Helbig declined to comment about Son of Beast's future, except to say that a decision on what steps to take regarding the ride won't be made until later this off season.

Duff Milkie, attorney for Cedar Fair, did not return a call asking for the company's response to Schimizze's interview.

A federal appeals court in 2008 reversed a lower court's decision to award Kings Island $20 million in its lawsuit against Son of Beast designer Roller Coaster Co. of Ohio. Kings Island first filed suit in 2000, seeking damages for alleged defective or negligent workmanship.

Roller Coaster Co. Ohio is now defunct. A lawyer told The Enquirer in 2006 that Kings Island built the coaster with its own employees, rather than with the company's more experienced builders.

Wright said her pursuit of her case was never about money and she isn't leading a "crusade" against Cedar Fair. She is sympathetic to the company in that it inherited Son of Beast from Kings Island's former owner, Paramount Parks, a subsidiary of Viacom.

What Wright wants, she said, is to make sure what happened to her and others doesn't happen again.

Her attorney, John Scaccia, said Wright has suffered beyond her physical ailments because people see someone suing and assume the worst without knowing all of the facts. Wright remains the only rider who didn't settle her lawsuit before trial, and the only case in which Kings Island admitted liability.

Scaccia said Wright deserves respect for making sure people can learn what happened.

"We have an area that is so attractive to the public, there comes with it a commensurate responsibility to serve that public interest," Scaccia said. "Let's hope that is what ultimately occurs."

Cedar Fair Updates

Some updates on Cedar Fair happenings

Cedar Fair - (5/24/10) Cedar Fair has announced plans to refinance $1.7 billion in debt through a new credit line, a new billion dollar loan and issuing half a billion in unsecured bonds to investors.
(5/17/10) Last week we were sent a report from a reader who took an online survey that indicated that a major national park chain was getting feedback about possible new pricing options that could include more expensive tickets in exchange for possible benefits like free parking or free soda.
Now according to another reader who was at Cedar Point on opening weekend, they were approached by an employee collecting survey data who asked almost identical questions regarding those very same pricing options. That said, it seems like a logical match that Cedar Fair was likely behind the anonymous online survey as well.
(5/7/10) Cedar Fair has reached an agreement with Q Funding, their largest investor, to add two new members to the Board of Directors, going up from 7 to 9. No word on who they may select, but apparently the search has begun. Hmmm… wonder if I can throw my hat into the mix…
(4/23/10) Now that the deal with Apollo has been put behind them, Cedar Fair has started working on plans to meet with their various lenders to reduce their $1.6 billion debt load any way they can. There is also some talks expected to happen soon between CF and their top investor, Q Investments, who owns 18.1% of the company’s units. No word yet on what this could entail.
(4/17/10) Cedar Fair has announced that they will hold a conference call to discuss the Q1 report on May 6th at 10am (EST). You can listen in online here.
(4/14/10) Cedar Fair has been on a roll this week since bailing out of the Apollo deal. Already this week they’ve filed a lawsuit against the city of Santa Clara and have taken the necessary steps to create a financial Poison Pill to ward off any possible attempt at a hostile takeover. The pill will automatically be triggered when another company has acquired 20% or more of Cedar Fair’s units.
(4/12/10) Following the announcement that the deal between Cedar Fair and Apollo was now off the table, the price of Cedar Fair stock has actually gone up 9.5% to $14.11.
(4/8/10) It has been confirmed that Cedar Fair has pulled out of the deal to be purchased by Apollo. According to CEO, Dick Kinzel, “The board has heard from Cedar Fair unitholders and it is apparent that the merger transaction does not have the required level of investor support.” Cedar Fair will have to pay Apollo $6.5 million to reimburse them for expenses during negotiations.
(3/4/10) Cedar Fair and Rockband have announced a new collaboration that will see something called “Rock Band, Live” brought to various Cedar Fair parks this season. A season-long version of this live interactive show experience will take place at Cedar Point and Canada’s Wonderland while a traveling version of the show will go on tour hitting 9 different parks along the way.
From the sound of things, the ‘preshow’ experience will involve the public playing the Rockband video game, resulting in the top players being invited up onto the stage to rock out with the live band… while you get to play along on your Rock Band plastic instrument. While some have blasted the idea, I think it’s a fun new project myself, and sure as hell to be more enjoyable than yet another American Idol themed show.
The Rock Band, Live tour will begin at Dorney Park over Memorial Day Weekend and slowly work their way Westward. According to the LA Times, the Tour will likely end their run with dates at California’s Great America (July 22 – Aug 1st) and Knott’s Berry Farm (Aug 5 – 15th) according to the LA Times.

Snoopy Starlight Experience

NEW ATTRACTION TO KINGS ISLAND, Opened May 29th 2010

A new experience is set to emerge in kings islands famous Eiffel Tower Setting. It is placed just behind one of America's most recognizable theme park icons Formerly Paramounts Eiffel Tower Replica. The area currently being set up for this attraction has been roped off and security is watching. The new attraction is due to open May 29th and no delays on construction are expected. This attraction comes just after the new introduction of Planet Snoopy the largest kids theme park area in the world. Whats next for Kings Island? I would expect to see new marketing in thier food service to make Kings Island A more affordable family environment. The new starlight experience was already implemented at the original Cedar point park and has been a tremendous success. Above are a few pictures of what will become of this extrodinary attraction to come to kings island in the 2010 season.

To those haven already visited this attraction this last friday let us know in our comment section of what you thought
